Blissful Chocolate cake recipe

Hi everybody so.. as you know, I LOVE TO BAKE! So at my granny's birthday recently I decided to make a light chocolate sponge with creamy, rich chocolate frosting. I did not have much in the house and I was not serving many people but the cake lasted ages! Enjoy my recipe for delightful chocolate cake!

For the cake....
225g/8oz butter or margarine
225g/8oz caster sugar
4 eggs beaten
225g/8oz self raising flour
Pinch of salt
3 15ml spoons/3 tbs warm water

for the frosting....
4oz unsalted butter, at room temperature
4oz powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4oz cocoa powder
add milk if needed

Cream the butter/margarine with the sugar until light and fluffy, and then slowly beat in the eggs. Sift the flour and salt together and fold gently into the egg mixture. Sufficient warm water can be added to make the mixture just drop from a spoon.

Then grease and paper 2 sandwich cake cases before splitting the mixture between them.
Bake in the centre of the oven at Gas 5, 190 deg C, 375 deg F until golden and risen. When cooked, turm out of the tins and leave to cool completely on a wire rack.

Now whip up the icing ingredients with an electric blender until light and fluffy.
When the cake is cooled, sandwich the sponges together with half of the icing then use the spare icing on the top.

Decorate with grated chocolate, unwrapped roses and celebrations and Malteasers.
