Make Pizza, Make fun, Make Happy!

Making Pizza is a deffo mood lifter so brighten your day by making a pizza. Try having a family competition on the funniest pizza face. One Halloween me and my friends all made our own pizza, we had a pumpkin shape, a scary face, a cat and a pal even made a "scary mickey mouse" - she had heard a scary rhyme about him... So have fun!

Today I did a pizza making workshop at pizza express but you can make pizza at home using my simple steps!

Pile it on for a hearty pizza

Ingredients for a basic pizza dough

  • 350g strong white plain flour
  • 7g easy blend yeast sachet
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 225ml (8 fl oz) milk (or water)
Method
Using this amount of dough, you can make 3 pizza bases – either 12-inch thin crust or 8-inch deep-dish or thereabouts – you might have different size trays and maybe only get 2 pizza bases. Divide the dough into 3 roughly equal amounts and using a rolling pin on a floured surface, roll to roughly the same size as the pizza trays that you are using.

Say you are making 2 x 8-inch deep-dish pizza bases and 1 x 12-inch thin crust pizza base. This is enough dough to feed a family of 4 – 2 adults and 2 small children.
don't like pizza make creative cheezey garlic bread instead!

Oil the trays a little
preheat oven to 210 degrees

Sauce recipe

  • 1 400g tin of tomatoes
  • 1-2 garlic cloves
  • a little chopped onion
  • tomato puree
  • mixed herbs
(its nicer than ready made!)

Spread evenly. Now for the fun but any toppings you like from peppers, ham, sweetcorn, pineapple, mushrooms to the more unusual olives, Caper buds and goats cheese. When you have topped the pizza go mad with as much mozzarella and cheddar as you like!

Pop the pizzas in oven on the top shelf for 8-10 minutes thin crust and 12-15 thick crust. REMEMBER TO KEEP CHECKING AS OVENS VARY.

enjoy...
